Random Adventure

I am looking forward to going on my tiny adventure again. It will not be very long. I am more than prepared. All I need is the right time and some good weather. I am going camping/hiking solo. Well ,I say solo but my adventure dog will be tagging along, Mr.Marley. He is great out there and he absolutly loves it! So im thinking about twenty miles this time, if all goes well then next I will be setting my eyes on something further. Im thinking I can hammer out twenty miles in two days.I will take a old army backpack, some food and water, a few survival items.I will sleep on the ground.Where I am going it is quite beautiful. There are many camping areas along the way.You can tell where many people have came out there but they are few and far between. It gets really quiet and really dark at night.
I enjoy it.The solitude. The feeling that survival is the only means to an end.Thats the way I want to live my life. That really the way everyone is supposed to lead thier lives. We get mixed up in success being a tangeble item we can touch and not feeling in your heart or a heightened sence of peace of the soul. We always live for something in the future and not right now. If you have nothing, you love the moment.
It may sound bad I really don`t think that I will be going off the deep end like Henry Thoreau, but it is something that is quite important to me. I have little desire to give away my soul for items that eventually get old and break.

Fire Fighter Close Calls

We recently had a close call at a home where there was a report of a house fire. The fire was located in the furnace of the heating unit under the house. We never saw the the fire since it was located within the heating unit.We cut the power on the house and smoke cleared the residence.Thermal Imaging was showing 50 or 60 degrees max at the hottest place.Seem under control for quite awhile(15 or 20 mins). Some guys were investigating in the crawl space under the home. When they opened the inspection panel the leaking oil flashed out causeing everyone to hurry out from under the crawl space. We used a 1 3/4 hoseline to handle the flame after some very tence moments.

Anyhow if you were there comment about that incident since I wasn`t under there when it happened. And if anyone has any other stories of close calls post them on here so we can hopefully aviod those in the future.
